Question

What replaces Shared Envelopes? We need to share certain envelopes among team members without sharing full access to each others' accounts.

Shared Envelopes is a useful feature to share envelopes among a team, and necessary to our workflow. We regularly need to share access to envelopes that are in process.

Shared Access requires us to give full access to our accounts to others. This is not useful. I see Shared Envelopes as a legacy feature, but I am not able to activate it. Please reactivate this feature.

We have also looked as Workspaces. This does not allow team members to correct envelopes, which is critical to our workflow.

Hello @ejp,

Welcome to the Docusign Community! Thank you for explaining how your team collaborates on in-process envelopes. I understand that team members need to make corrections without sharing full account credentials.

Shared Envelopes is a legacy feature that will no longer be updated or enabled. If it meets your needs, you can submit an enhancement idea or request its re-enablement through the Docusign Ideas page, where users can share and vote on feature requests. Workspaces also does not provide the envelope-correction capabilities required for your workflow.

However, have you tried using Shared Access with Edit permissions? This does not require users to share passwords or full account credentials. An account administrator can grant selected team members access to another user’s envelope inbox with the permissions needed to:

  • View and manage envelopes

  • Correct envelope details and recipient information

  • Resend or void envelopes

To configure this, an administrator should open Admin tab > Users > Locate the user > Manage Shared Access and grant the appropriate users Edit access. If the Edit option is not available, your account plan may not include this functionality; in that case, please contact your Docusign account team for an entitlement review.

For more information, see Shared Access to Envelopes.

This still requires giving others access to all the envelopes and documents in our accounts, even if they have limited ability to edit. This is not comparable to Sharing Envelopes. It is ridiculous that a feature is discontinued without a comparable replacement.
