Question

Multiple Doc packages saved separately with Certificate of Completion appended to each document

We are now required to save each signed document separately that is sent for signatures in a multiple document package. Each saved document must have the Certificate of Completion appended to the end of the esigned document.

Is this something that is available or coming so we aren’t spending time and potentially breaking the audit trail by saving separately and manually merging the document and CoC? These are for government transactions.

Thank you.

Hi @T.Rowley,

Thank you for connecting with the Docusign Community! We understand the importance of saving each signed document separately with its Certificate of Completion attached, especially for government transactions where maintaining an accurate audit trail is essential. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and I’ll be glad to help you with this.

Docusign generates one Certificate of Completion per envelope, covering all documents and recipients in that envelope. It cannot natively append a separate CoC to each document.

Available options:

  • Combined PDF: downloads all signed documents, with a single CoC appended at the end.
  • ZIP download: provides the individual documents and the CoC as separate files.
  • Separate envelopes: send each document in its own envelope so each receives its own CoC.

You could merge each document with the envelope CoC externally, but that would be post-processing rather than a native Docusign output. For government transactions, separate envelopes are the safer supported approach; confirm any retention requirements with the relevant authority or compliance team.

Since Docusign does not currently support your preferred functionality, we recommend submitting this as a feature request through the Docusign Ideas portal for consideration in future enhancements.

I hope this helps! If you need anything else or have more questions, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to help.

Best regards,
