In this session, Docusign University trainer Vinicius Tadeu Rodrigues explored AutoPlace, focusing on automating field placement across documents. Below, you’ll find key learnings from the event and the full recording.

Why is AutoPlace important?
Preparing documents manually takes time and can introduce errors—especially when handling complex or multi-page files. AutoPlace helps Docusign users place fields like initials and signatures automatically based on anchor text, streamlining workflows, improving accuracy, and making templates more scalable.

Key takeaways:

  • Automate field placement with anchor text – AutoPlace anchors fields to specific words or phrases (e.g., “Signer:” or “Date:”) to ensure consistent placement across documents of any length or layout.

  • Boost productivity with reusable templates – Templates with AutoPlace fields adjust automatically to different document structures, making them perfect for recurring agreements like contracts or onboarding packets.

  • Use custom fields and regular expressions for advanced setups – AutoPlace supports more complex scenarios, like inserting fields based on signing order or dynamic content—especially valuable for CLM and integration use cases.

  • Fine-tune for team and compliance needs – Shared templates and field settings can be customized and reused across teams, with attention to access permissions, field sizing, and page-specific placements.

Can we have dynamic signer orders, like in case of optional signers. The signing order changes when we don’t have optional signers, how do we avoid this problem.
