Undeliverable Error Says Email Address Is Incorrect, But It Is Correct

Has anyone else recently experienced DocuSign reporting an email address as undeliverable and prompting you to correct it, even though the address is already correct? I've encountered this at least three times in the past week. In each case, the email address was verified, and at least one recipient was still able to access the envelope. I'm curious whether others are seeing the same behavior or if there is a known issue with email delivery notifications.

The recipient's email provider is not blocking emails from DocuSign because I also have the same domain and I receive Docusign emails just fine.

Hello @WorkflowWhisperer,

Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the Docusign Community!

Are you receiving the error  "Auto Responded: Correct to fix email address errors"?

If so, this message can be triggered by several factors and does not necessarily mean the email address is incorrect. It indicates that DocuSign was unable to successfully deliver the email to the recipient's mail server.

Some common causes include:

  • The recipient's mail server or security system is blocking emails from DocuSign.
  • The recipient's mailbox is full or has reached its storage limit.
  • A temporary mail server issue on the recipient's side generated an automated delivery failure response.

Since you've already verified the email addresses are correct, and at least one recipient was still able to access the envelope, this appears more consistent with a recipient-side email delivery issue than an invalid email address.

If the issue persists with specific recipients, I would recommend confirming the address, testing email delivery outside of DocuSign, and/or having the recipient's IT team check for any filtering or blocking of DocuSign emails.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any questions!
