File renaming issue when downloading the completed envelope

We are experiencing an issue where, upon downloading a completed DocuSign envelope, the system automatically modifies the original file name. Specifically, all periods (.) within the file name are being altered. This behavior impacts our established file naming convention, as periods are used intentionally within version identifiers and are a critical component of our version control structure. The automatic modification of these characters disrupts our document management process and creates inconsistencies in version tracking. Is there a chance to include this fix in an upcoming release?

Hello @elenap,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Docusign Community!

This behavior is expected due to how most systems interpret periods in filenames. To avoid this, we recommend using underscores or dashes instead. If this enhancement would improve your workflow, please consider submitting it as an Idea for future enhancement.

Thank you for the response. The proposed solution does not work for us because the periods are part of a version numbering example “ver 1.2” where you cannot have an underscore. In versions it is not at all typical to have anything other than a period.
