Question

Can I download a partially signed document after the first signer completes and then send it to the second signer?

I have a multi-signer document where I need to send it to signers sequentially. After the first signer completes their signing, I want to download that partially signed version and then send it to the second signer. Is this possible in DocuSign? Should I be using a specific workflow for this, or are there any limitations I should be aware of?

My workflow:
1. Send document to Signer 1
2. Once Signer 1 completes - download the partially signed document
3. Send the same document to Signer 2 for their signature

Will this work or do I need to set up the full routing with all signers upfront?

Hello @nishant123

Thank you for reaching out here in Docusign Community.

If you wish to download the document first be fore it move to the next recipient.

I would suggest that you use the signing order where you added yourself as another recipient after each signer so the envelope won’t move to the next recipient unless you completed your turn.

If your concern is that Signer 2 shouldn’t see parts of the document until after Signer 1 signs, DocuSign has Document Visibility settings that can hide certain documents or pages from certain recipients, while still using a single envelope.

Use Document Visibility to Control Recipient Access
