Is Docusign’s AI engine, Iris, not collecting all of the valuable information you need from your agreements? Are the attributes that come out of the box with Docusign not enough to capture some of the unique details of your agreements that you would like to use for searching and gaining insight to your contracts?
Well thankfully, you can create custom extraction fields and “teach” Iris how to identify their values on your contracts automatically, whenever a new document is added to your IAM account. This has several benefits to your organization:
- Boost productivity by tracking the data points in terms that are unique to your organization or industry
- Simplify compliance monitoring with more consistent and precise agreement records
- Enhance strategic decision-making with greater visibility into your agreement data
Example Use Case
Perhaps you would like to track your agreements by particular discount codes that are included within the language of your sales contracts. This is not an attribute that Docusign’s AI is looking to extract out of the box, so you create a field called “Discount Code” and highlight some examples for Iris that it can use to automatically identify this value on contracts in the future. Going forward, you can filter on your Discount Codes in your searches and reports, adding a new piece of automatically-identified information.
How to Create a Custom Extraction Field
After identifying a piece of information you would like Docusign to search for on your agreements, follow these steps to create the custom extraction:
- Step 1: Access the Fields Manager from within the Settings menu (gear icon) in Navigator
- Step 2: Click Add Fields. Give your field a name and choose the type of field it will be, along with a category
- Step 3: After saving, find your field on the list and Click Set Up
- Step 4: The AI Detection Wizard will launch and walk you through describing your field, providing examples and testing for accuracy.
