I do not see any options to sort the users list by any of the columns and the list by default is not sorted alphabetically by username. It would be nice to click on a column to sort by that column in the User Admin section.

YES! Yes, it would be nice for the user to sort the columns! I submitted a similar idea about a year ago but it never happened.

At this time, we’re not planning to pursue this request, so we’ve marked it as parked.
While it’s not on our current roadmap, ideas like yours help inform future direction if priorities change.
