Rename standard "Title" field to "Job Title" to reduce signer errors and improve profile data quality
The standard “Title” field is frequently misunderstood by signers, who may enter an honorific (e.g. Mr, Mrs, Mrs, Professor) or other incorrect value rather than their employment position or job title.
When a signer does not already have a title saved in their DocuSign profile, the value entered in this field is saved to their profile and subsequently auto-populated on future documents. As many users are unaware this information is stored against their profile, incorrect values can persist across multiple envelopes.
I would suggest renaming the standard “Title” field to “Job Title” to better align with the corresponding profile attribute and provide clearer guidance to signers at the point of entry.
This would:
- Reduce user confusion and data entry errors.
- Improve the quality and consistency of profile data.
- Reduce administrative effort required to identify and correct incorrect saved values.
- Provide a simple, user-friendly solution that works across all envelopes without requiring custom fields, tooltips, templates, or additional user training.
This minor enhancement would be particularly valuable for organisations with large numbers of senders, where custom workarounds are difficult to implement and maintain.
