Improve OAuth Login Flow & Extend Token Lifetime for Embedded Dynamics 365 Integration

In our Dynamics 365 environment, users frequently need to generate DocuSign envelopes as part of their daily workflow. However, they are repeatedly forced to re‑authenticate because OAuth login sessions expire after approximately 120 minutes. This means users who return the next day—or even later the same day—must go through a full login cycle every time they attempt to create a new envelope.

Current Situation:

When the token has expired, initiating the envelope creation flow results in an error.
To resolve it, users are required to:

1. Log out of DocuSign
2. Refresh
3. Log in again
4. Close pop‑ups
5. Restart the envelope creation process

This flow is confusing, time‑consuming, and negatively impacts productivity. Users may need to repeat this process multiple times per week/day.

Problem:

• The session lifetime of ~120 minutes is too short for typical business usage patterns.
• The login experience is not intuitive and includes unnecessary forced logout steps.
• Users receive no proactive notification or guidance when re‑authentication is required.

Proposed Enhancements:

I would like to suggest two possible improvements—either of which would significantly improve user experience:

1. Extend the OAuth Token Lifetime

Allow administrators to configure longer token durations for server-to-server or app-based OAuth flows, especially for scenarios where users interact with DocuSign through embedded or integrated systems such as Dynamics 365.

2. Simplify the Re‑Authentication Flow

If extending token duration is not feasible, please improve the login experience by:

• Removing the confusing forced log‑out step
• Providing a clearer, single-step "Re‑authenticate" action
• Displaying a helpful message when a token has expired
• Automatically redirecting users into the appropriate point in the envelope creation flow after login

Why This Matters:

These improvements would:

• Reduce friction for users who rely on DocuSign as part of daily operational tasks
• Decrease support tickets
• Improve adoption and overall user satisfaction
• Make the Dynamics 365 + DocuSign integration feel more seamless and modern

Conclusion:

The current login experience is functional but disruptive in real‑world usage. Enhancing either the OAuth session duration or the authentication flow would create a much smoother and more intuitive workflow for end users.
