A Sender is NOT able to create a new template or a web form.

We do NOT want to grant these power users Admin roles, as that would grant them access to account settings, Connect configurations and other vulnerable areas that should be off-limits.

The Author would be able create and share templates in their demo accounts, and request they get moved/ deployed to their production environment.

As Admin, users see the Start button.  As Author they would see the Start button and NOT the Admin menu.

As a Sender, the Start button to create a template is not available.  There needs to be another role that only adds the Start menu.

Hello @Scott.Nieman,

Thank you for your valuable contribution to the Docusign Community! We greatly appreciate your Idea to help us improve our platform.

We have some questions. Is this request to add both settings automatically in the  DS (Docusign Sender) Permission Profile?

It appears that there is a process in place that can achieve the request. Let me explain the process. DS Sender's Permission Profile users are unable to create templates. However, an Administrator can create or copy a Permission Profile with the same settings as the original, then modify the name and settings as needed (such as adding permission to create Templates and Web Forms), and finally assign it to the users. This allows Non-Administrators to use these features. For more details, please refer to the articles and screenshots below:

DS Sender

Add and Copy Permission Profiles

Permission Profile Options

  • Templates: This option sets the user’s template usage and management rights. The options are:
    • None: This user cannot use, create, or share templates.
    • Use: This user can use templates created and shared by other users, but the user cannot create or share templates.
    • Create: This user can create and use templates, but the user cannot share templates.
    • Share: This user can use, create, and share templates.
  • Web Forms: This option sets the Web Forms access for a user. The options are:
    • None: The user cannot use or create Web Forms.
    • Create: The user can access, build, manage, and use Web Forms.

Note: When the Template Permission is "Use", the Create option under Webform permission is greyed out. You need to select the Create/ Share from Template permission.

Finally, assign the modified Permission Profile to the user/s. This step completes the process and ensures that the users have the necessary permissions to create and use Templates and Web Forms.

Note: Some advanced features and options are supported only in specific Docusign plans. Your account plan might not support some of the options discussed in this help topic. Contact your account administrator for more information about which options are available for your account. Or, visit our Plans and Pricing web page for more details on the features included with your plan. Compare eSignature plans & pricing.

I hope this is helpful. Let us know if you need further assistance. Thank you!

Best regards,

Melanie | Docusign Community Moderator

Let me check that out.  I did not notice that as that is clearly a secondary step in the user creation process.

This worked out for Templates.

I did not see the option for Web Forms, but we see too many feature gaps with Web Forms at this point to invest time there.
