Frequently Asked Questions

What is IAM for Sales?

IAM for Sales is a pre-configured application that brings agreement management directly into the CRM. It connects creation, negotiation, and management workflows to every stage of the sales process while keeping agreement and CRM data in sync.

IAM for Sales addresses two high-impact use cases:

  1. Sales agreement generation: Sellers can generate agreements or initiate approval workflows directly from the opportunity or account record. Contracts are created using legal-approved templates that automatically pull in customer and deal data so sellers can move faster while ensuring standards are consistently applied.
  2. Customer renewal management: Renewal dates, key terms, and insights from past agreements that are usually scattered across different documents can now be surfaced directly within the CRM.

What problem does IAM for Sales solve?

Sales cycles slow down when sellers have to leave the CRM to prepare documents, re-enter deal data, request approvals, check review status, or search completed agreements for renewal details.

IAM for Sales helps keep more of that agreement work connected to the CRM, so sales, legal, and operations teams can work from shared data and reduce manual handoffs.

Many teams experience challenges such as:

  • Deal delays: Contracting is a major bottleneck in the sales process, slowing deal closure and reducing revenue velocity.
  • Manual processes: Sellers spend excessive time on repetitive, manual tasks—like re-entering data, chasing approvals, and managing documents—rather than selling.
  • Limited visibility: Sales teams lack real-time insight into agreement status, key terms, and stakeholder actions, creating uncertainty and friction across the deal lifecycle.
  • Loss of revenue: Lack of access to agreement information can lead to missed opportunities and keep you locked into agreements that are not cost-effective.

IAM for Sales helps teams:

  • Keep CRM and agreement data aligned. Sync data between your CRM and agreements so teams spend less time re-entering information, fixing errors, or reconciling details across systems.
  • Give teams more visibility into the agreement process. Drafting, routing, reviewing, and signing can happen in a more connected workflow across Sales, Legal, and Operations, while sellers continue working from the CRM.
  • Use past agreement details to support future conversations. Docusign Iris can help surface key dates, terms, and insights from completed agreements, so sellers have more context when preparing for renewals, follow-ups, or new opportunities.

Who should use this application?

IAM for Sales is designed for sales teams that use Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics 365 and want to reduce the manual work around preparing, reviewing, signing, and managing contracts.

It may be a good fit if your team:

  • Creates sales agreements from CRM records
  • Needs contracts to use approved templates and accurate CRM data
  • Routes contracts through legal for redlining and negotiations
  • Wants sellers to track agreement status without leaving the CRM
  • Needs better visibility into completed agreements, renewals, or key contract terms

What new features are available in the IAM for Sales application?

The latest IAM for Sales capabilities are focused on bringing more agreement work directly into the CRM. Instead of listing each feature separately, it may help to think about them grouped in these areas:

Work from your CRM

  • IAM Workflow Launcher, CRM-Embedded Agreement Prep, and CRM-Embedded Agreement Desk: Generate agreements, kick off approval workflows, and track real-time review progress directly from your Salesforce or Dynamics records—without leaving the CRM tab.

Centralize and find agreements faster

  • CRM-Embedded Agreement Manager and CRM Document Archive: Centralize, organize, and surface insights from contracts stored in Docusign Agreement Manager from the account or opportunity level. Fully executed agreements automatically sync back to the CRM record so your team has a single source of truth.

Automate workflows without code

  • Workflow Builder: Build and deploy customized workflows that automate drafting, routing, review, and signing—no code required—so you can standardize processes across teams while keeping sellers in the CRM.

Accelerate review and negotiation

  • AI-Assisted Review and CRM Document Import: Use AI-powered contract analysis and redlining directly within the CRM to speed up reviews between your sellers and external parties, and import third-party documents into Agreement Desk so redlines and status are tracked centrally.
