I have been having to get redlines from recipients, negotiate them and than upload edit contract. I thought I used to be able to do this within DocuSign however I don't seem to be able to do this. I have enable editing by recipients but this only seem to give them an edit box and no redline function

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out here in the DocuSign Community.

DocuSign has 3 features that allow recipients to interact with a document in a negotiating way.

The first one is our Collaborative Fields, please view: https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?bundleId=gbo1643332197980&topicId=lsv1579552570897.html&_LANG=enus

The second one would be our Markup feature: https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?bundleId=yca1573855023892&topicId=ltr1631215267154.html&_LANG=enus

And the last one is our Strike-through feature, however, this one is only available for Real Estate account plans: https://support.docusign.com/s/articles/Strikethrough-for-Real-Estate

If you believe that you need further assistance, you can create a Customer Support case and a Tech Expert will be able to help. Please click the link below to open a Support case: https://support.docusign.com/en/contactSupport

If you’re not able to open a Customer Support case via the above link, you can scroll down the page to “More Support Options” and select "I can't reset my password or don't have an account." You will have different options to contact Support.

Please click "Select as Best" below if you found the answer to be a valid solution to your issue!

Hello:

I noticed you filed this under CLM which suggests you have the DocuSign CLM license. In that case, DocuSign has an External Review UI that is ready for your need.

You can access the External Review feature in the upper right hand corner of the Document Preivew screen in CLM (when enabled, which it is by default for CLM Users and Admins).

In Workflow, you can leverage this feature using the Send for External Review step or the Review and Send for External Review paired with the Wait for External Review step.

For internal redlines, review changes using the Compare checkbox on the top of the Document Preview screen. You can Edit the document with function buttons again in the upper right corner of the Document Preivew screen in CLM (when enabled, which it is by default for CLM Users and Admins).

To assign users to make edits during workflow, you can use the Edit Document step, (or other steps such as Choice that also allow edits when enabled)

Please note that View and Edit security is required on the folder containing any document a user will Review and Send for External Review (or the manual equivalent) or assign to a user to Edit. (You can use the Send for External Review step to allow View Only users to send a review on behalf of another user.)

All of these features require CLM license and editors need Microsoft Word. Feel free to respond if you have further questions.

Kind Regards,

For Microsoft Word documents, you can also enable the Word feature for Track Changes and that will function independently (and differently) from the Compare feature in CLM.

External Review step is better, and you can send reminders.
